KB-1206: Unable to login using SSH Secure Shell or Hummingbird SSH

Centrify DirectControl ,   Centrify Identity Service, Mac Edition ,

12 April,16 at 11:12 AM

Applies to: SSH Secure Shell or Hummingbird SSH on Solaris platforms.

Problem:

Active Directory authentication via PuTTY into a Solaris machine works whereas authentication fails while using the "SSH Secure Shell" client.

Cause:

This typically is due to the SSH Secure Shell client
not being configured for the keyboard interactive authentication method and Sun sshd does not know how to handle password the prompt.

Resolution:

Either set the default for the SSH Secure Shell to use the keyboard interactive authentication method (use the attached screenshot as a reference) or use Centrify PuTTY.
