KB-10596: How to Collect Debug Logs from the Zone Provisioning Agent (ZPA)

Authentication Service ,

29 June,18 at 08:56 PM

There are two methods to collect Debug Logs from the Zone Provisioning Agent, each is determined based on what interface is used.

1. If using the "Zone Provisioning Agent Command Prompt"

When using the command line interface the logging parameter must be used with the command and with the proper syntax. For example:

zoneupdate /l:<LogLevel> <zone-name>

Allowable log levels are Error, Warning, Information, and Verbose. The Logs are saved specific to the directory of the user who is logged on and issuing the command. They are located at C:\Users\User_Name\AppData\Roaming\Centrify\Zone Provisioning Agent\Log. The file will appear as "centrify_zpa" with the accompanying date and software version build accompanied in the file name.
Collecting logs with the CLI tool is performed as the command "zoneupdate" is run. When collecting logs for Centrify Technical Support, simply submit the created file after running the command to completion.

2. If using the "Centrify Zone Provisioning Agent Configuration Panel"

When using the GUI option for automated ZPA updates, simply select the checkbox as seen in the below image, in order to activate debug logging. Please note this enables Verbose level logging and saves the output to the designated path "C:\Program Files\Common Files\Centrify Shared\Logs". The file will appear as "centrify_zpa" with the accompanying date and software version build accompanied in the file name.
Collecting logs with the GUI tool is automatic, but the service must be restarted in order to activate and deactivate log processing. When collecting logs for Centrify Technical Support please check the box for "Turn on debug logging", select "Apply" to save the setting, and then select "Show Log" to monitor the activity. With the log file displayed select "Restart" from the control panel. Once the process is complete the log file will become idle, at this time save the contents or browse to the file directory to copy and submit the file for Technical Support's investigations. Remember to turn off debug logging when not in use.
