Question:

What is the recommended command to use for alerts that check adclient's mode?

Answer:

Use the command adinfo --mode (adclient -m) instead of adinfo.

Note:
You could also use adinfo but if the alert is set up to query servers at regular intervals it will generate a lot of DNS traffic.
