Applies to: All versions of Centrify Identity Service

Question:

Will email alias be deleted/updated in G Suite if proxyAddresses in AD is deleted/updated?

Answer:

No. When the proxyAddresses is deleted/updated in AD, the deleted/updated alias will remain in G Suite. This is an expected behavior. The newly added proxyAddresses will be added to G Suite during provisioning. The alias will only be deleted when the user is deprovisioned.

Examples:
  • User originally has 2 alias alias1@domain.com & alias2@domain.com, which has been provisioned to G Suite:
In AD:
alias1@domain.com
alias2@domain.com

In G Suite:
alias1@domain.com
alias2@domain.com
  • If alias3@domain.com is added to AD, it will be added to G Suite, user will have 3 alias in G Suite:
In AD:
alias1@domain.com
alias2@domain.com
alias3@domain.com

In G Suite:
alias1@domain.com
alias2@domain.com
alias3@domain.com
  • If alias1@domain.com is deleted from AD, it will NOT be deleted in G Suite, user will still have 3 aliasĀ in G Suite:
In AD:
alias2@domain.com
alias3@domain.com

In G Suite:
alias1@domain.com
alias2@domain.com
alias3@domain.com
  • If alias2@domain.com is updated to alias4@domain.com in AD, alias4@domain.com will be added to G Suite but alias2 will not be deleted, meaning the user will have 4 aliasĀ in G Suite:
In AD:
alias4@domain.com
alias3@domain.com

In G Suite:
alias1@domain.com
alias2@domain.com
alias3@domain.com
alias4@domain.com
