Question:

Why am I seeing "chan_read_failed for istate 3" errors from Centrify OpenSSH in system logs?

error messages:
[ID 800047 auth.error] error: channel 0: chan_read_failed for istate 3
Answer:
These messages are appearing in the system logs due to a bug in OpenSSH 4.6. The errors cannot be stopped without a source level patch. The bug has been fixed in OpenSSH 4.7.

These messages are benign and can safely be ignored.
