KB-0519: Dependent module /usr/lib/libldap.a(libldap-2.2.so.7) could not be loaded

Centrify DirectControl ,

Problem:

While installing DirectControl, an error message very similar to the following appears:

Could not load program /usr/sbin/adclient:

Dependent module /usr/lib/libldap.a(libldap-2.2.so.7) could not be loaded. File /usr/lib/libldap.a is not an archive or the file could not be read properly. System error: Exec format error

The above error message also occurs when running DirectControl commands such as “adinfo”.

Cause:

IBM Tivoli Manager is installed on the machine which installs libldap.a in /usr/lib and links it to (for example) /opt/IBM/ldap/V6.0/lib/libidsldap.a. You can run “ldd /usr/sbin/adclient | grep libldap.a” which will return the path to the library that adclient needs to use, which is in /usr/share/centrifydc/lib.

An additional factor that causes this problem is that /usr/lib is set to come first in the list of paths so adclient obtains the wrong libldap.a in /usr/lib.

Workaround:

1. Change the library path *for each* specific command: LIBPATH=/usr/share/centrifydc/lib:$LIBPATH adinfo

OR

2. Tivoli Manager may have been installed on this machine a very long time ago, and so there is a small possibility that you no longer need Tivoli Manager on this machine. If you determine this to be the case, you can resolve this problem by simply uninstalling it,

OR

remove the /usr/lib/libldap.a library and then create a libldap.a symlink in /usr/lib to /usr/share/centrifydc/lib/libldap.a.
