KB-0373: User's cron jobs fails to execute after installing Centrify agent

Centrify DirectControl ,

12 April,16 at 10:57 AM

Applies: Centrify DirectControl agent - All versions across all platforms

Problem: User's cron job fails to execute after installing Centrify agent and joining the Unix/Linux machine to the domain.

Cause:

On Unix/Linux machines during the process of joining the machine to Active Directory domain; underlying pam.conf, nsswitch.conf gets updated with appropriate Centrify library entries which are used for Active Directory user authentication.

So after joining the machine to the domain, any services running on the Unix/Linux machine which support PAM authentication needs to be restarted to read in the new entries from pam.conf, nsswitch.conf and load Centrify pam, nss modules into the memory. Cron service is one of them which needs to be restarted.

Resolution:

Cron daemon needs to be restarted.

If after restarting cron, the problem still continues to occur, please do open a case with support and send us /var/log/cron log and Centrify debug logs.
