Tips for finding Knowledge Articles

KB-0232: CDC Services to be restarted after join of the machine to the domain

Question:

What are all the services that need a restart after joining the machine to the domain avoiding restart of the machine.

Answer:

After successful install/upgrade of cdc xxx to cdc yyy, here are the list of services that require a restart in order to avoid rebooting of the machine.

Services to be restarted:
1. sshd
2. xinetd / inetd
3. crond
4. KDE/GDE, dtlogin or another gui that is being used.
5. smtpd, pop, imap
6. squid, vsftpd
7. When adclient restarts, it does the restart of nscd service but optionally you can also restart nscd service
8. Finally if you have any application which depends on pam authentication modules, please restart them.
