KB-0072: Allowing users to log on using NIS on AIX

Question:

How to allow users to log on using NIS on AIX?

Answer:

To allow users to log on with either the native Network Information Service (NIS) or Active Directory, you must remove the options = noprompt parameter in the CENTRIFYDC configuration section of the /usr/lib/security/methods.cfg file.

Note:
If you remove this parameter, however, you cannot specify the password prompt for Active Directory users.
