KB-0071: Logging on to ftp with long user names on AIX

Question:

What is the limitation when logging on to ftp with long user names on AIX?

Answer:

If you use the standard AIX ftp (ftpd), you may be unable to log on to ftp if your user name is longer than 15 characters. In most cases, you would encounter this problem when you need to log on to ftp using your full user account name. For example, if you need to log on using the \domain\username or username@domain format to log on to ftp, you may experience this problem. This is an AIX ftp limitation. If you encounter this problem, you may want to download and install a different ftp package.
