Tips for finding Knowledge Articles

  • - Enter just a few key words related to your question or problem
  • - Add Key words to refine your search as necessary
  • - Do not use punctuation
  • - Search is not case sensitive
  • - Avoid non-descriptive filler words like "how", "the", "what", etc.
  • - If you do not find what you are looking for the first time,reduce the number of key words you enter and try searching again.
  • - Minimum supported Internet Explorer version is IE9

14.10 Highlights: New Mobile Features, Custom Email Templates and App Gateway Beta (Extended)

On Saturday, December 13th we will be making the last product update of 2014 as we update to version 14.10.  Once again, this release contains many new features and product improvements.  To hear about all of the features, please join us for a webinar on Thursday, December 11th at 11 am PST.   In the meantime, let me give you a teaser on what's coming...

 

New Mobile Features

While there are several new mobile features coming in this release, I want to draw your attention to two of them here:

  1. Device enrollment restrictions, and
  2. Improved support for Administrators to debug mobile

Device enrollment restrictions enables the administrator to specify via policy which versions of Android, OSX and/or iOS they will support.  These new policies are accessible under Mobile Device Policies > Device Enrollment Settings in Cloud Manager.

 

With 14.10, if a user is having problems with mobile and you want to get the device logs the administrator can proactively grab the logs without the user having to do a thing.  In order to do this, the admin can simply set a new policy to Enable debug logging (this will turn debugging on on the user's device).  Once enabled, the admin can go to the user record to fetch the device log.

Custom Email Templates

We've expanded our customization to include the ability to customize all of the system-generated emails sent from User Suite.   You will find these templates under Settings > Account Customization in Cloud Manager, and you can customize the (i) subject, (ii) display name, (iii) email address, and (iv) body.

We've also added support for inviting AD users to the service.  From the Users page in Cloud Manager, you will now see an "Invite Users" button, which can be used to invite users from the cloud and/or AD.  This coupled with the status / last login columns on the Users page makes it much easier to manage deployments.

 

App Gateway Beta (extended)

As you may have seen in my last post, or in our recent press release, we are introducing our App Gateway feature to enable one-click access to on premises apps without that hassles of setting up and using VPN.  We are very excited about this feature as it embodies our mission of providing secure access to any app from any device without passwords.

 

Let me point out a few things that affects all User Suite customers with this new feature:

  1. We have changed the name of our Proxy to Cloud Connector (Connectors can serve as an AD Proxy, and App Gateway, or both)
  2. Proxies page under Settings has been moved to the new Cloud Connectors page under Settings
  3. The Cloud Connectors page will now indicate which services are enabled (AD Proxy / App Gateway) for each Connector
