Applies to: All versions of DirectControl on HP-UX 11.31 or above

Problem:
Logging in using SSH (stock or Centrify OpenSSH) from a HP-UX machine with a username more than 8 characters fails.

In sshd debug trace, you may get :

PAM: pam_setcred(): No account present for user

And when you run "lugadmin" will return:

Config not found:
/etc/default/lugname file does not exist.

Cause:
L
ong user and group name feature is not enabled on HP-UX.

Resolution:

You can enable the long user and group name feature by doing the following:

1. Stop pwgrd:

/sbin/init.d/pwgr stop

2. Enable logn user and group name feature:

lugadmin -e

(/etc/default/lugname will be created)

3. Start pwgrd:

/sbin/init.d/pwgr start

Note:
For trusted HPUX, it says:
"Do not enable long usernames on trusted system configurations"
